I am life that wants to live, in the midst of life that wants to live - Albert Schweitzer
Natalia’s Ark is a non-profit organization founded in September 2020 with the aim of creating a shelter for those animals defined as “income”, removed from situations of exploitation, mistreatment and abandonment, to try to give them back them the freedom and dignity they have been deprived of.
The Refuge opened its doors on the slopes of Etna at the end of 2021 with the entry of Zucchero, Cannella and Cloe, and every inhabitant, from the largest to the smallest, regains their individuality. They are no longer considered a number or a commodity, but rather a life capable of feelings, emotions, friendships and deep, sometimes indissoluble, bonds.
We are a group of volunteers, united by a single force: the indiscriminate love for our animal brothers and sisters and the belief that the human being is not superior to other species.
Today we host almost one hundred animals (pigs, cows, goats, sheep, rabbits, dogs, roosters, chickens, a donkey, a turkey and a cat) and we are part of the Network of Sanctuaries of free animals in Italy (Rete dei Santuari di animali liberi in Italia), which has 26 permanent shelters, located mainly from Rome to the north.
